MAK Tour 2008: Focus on John Lautner

The MAK Center presented four architecture tours, in partnership with the Hammer Museum in Westwood, focusing on the work of John Lautner. Tours were organized as a complement to the groundbreaking exhibition Between Earth and Heaven: The Architecture of John Lautner, on view July 13-October 12, 2008 at the Hammer, and all four provided rare opportunities to experience some of the more stunning residential works by a maverick architect. Tour I included the Harpel Residence (1956), the Tyler Residence (1953) and the Schwimmer Residence (1982). Tour II included the Jacobsen Residence (1947), the Harvey Residence (1950) and the Reiner/Burchill Residence also known as Silvertop (1963). Tours III and IV focused on a single home: the Sheats/Goldstein Residence (1963).
