SLOW DANCE x Schindler House by Virginia/Mats Swenson

Track 1, 15:22 minutes

Track 2, 15:22 minutes

SLOW DANCE x Schindler House is a score and audio tour of the Schindler House, and the third iteration of the interactive performance sound piece SLOW DANCE. Participants are asked to interpret aural instructions that create a personal choreography, allowing new access to and interpretation of the house.

This tour is for two people at once. One participant should listen to Track 1, and the other to Track 2. Choose someone you feel comfortable with --though this could be a stranger-- and make sure to press "play" at the same time. The tour starts at the book cart by the office.

VIRGINIA / MATS SWENSON

Virginia / Mats Swenson is a performance artist, writer, print maker and baker. Their work is often experimental, and pushes the reflexivity of self-perception to the absurd or comical, producing excessive scenes and objects. They grew up in Seattle, WA and graduated from Lewis & Clark College in 2019 with a BA in English. They now live in Los Angeles.

On the occasion of the one-hundred year anniversary of the Schindler House, the MAK Center commissioned four artists and writers to guide visitors through the house through sounds rather than sight. Visitors are invited to move, observe, and perceive the house through instructional exercises, fictional meanderings, and guided journeys.
