Todd Gray
Todd Gray (born 1954) lives and works in Los Angeles and Ghana. Gray works in photography, performance, and sculpture, he received his Bachelor and Master of Fine Arts from the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, CA. Recent performances include Caliban in the Mirror at the Roy & Edna Disney Cal/Arts Theater, REDCAT, Los Angeles (with Max King Cap); Water at Armory Center for the Arts, Pasadena; Akwidaa:Kumasi, Shrines and Masquerades Live! New York University, N.Y.; and MADE IN LA 2016 at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles. Recent solo shows include Time Machine / Hippie Dandy, Melikstetian | Briggs, Los Angeles, CA; Todd Gray, Lightwork, Syracuse, NY; and Caliban in the Mirror: Exquisite Terribleness, Samson Projects, Boston, MA. Gray is the Chair of the Artists Council of ICA LA.
Anthea Hamilton
Anthea Hamilton (born 1978) is a British artist who lives and works in London. Her recent exhibitions have included Sorry I’m Late at Firstsite; Frieze Projects New York, Randall’s Island, New York, US; Love IV: Cold Shower, Schinkel Pavillon, Berlin, DE (with Nicholas Byrne); Kettle’s Yard, The Hepworth Wakefield, Wakefield, UK; The Magazine Sessions in collaboration with Fiorucci Art Trust, Serpentine Sackler Gallery, London, UK; Lichen! Libido! Chastity!, Sculpture Center, Long Island City, US. In 2016 she was shortlisted for the Turner Prize, and recently opened The Squash for the Tate Britain Commission 2018. Hamilton will have a solo show at Secession, Vienna in Autumn 2018.
This program was a part of Public Fiction’s The Conscientious Objector, a multifaceted endeavor that unfurled in parts from February to April 2018. The Conscientious Objector comprised a publication, a series of artist-made commercials for television, an exhibition of artworks activated by a performance, and public programs.
