with Julia Obleitner

“[It] was amazing, all the accesses to the archives, and the city, truly opened up the city! This program inspired to explore explore other media than the conventional architecture medias.”

Focusing on humanity’s geopolitical footprints, their documentation, and ways of altering and preserving collective memories, Helvijs Savickis’ research moves across spatial installations, architecture, and film. As co-founder of the Architecture Studio Paradox, his work explores the layered interplay between space and time through these mediums. His projects have been exhibited internationally at institutions and galleries such as the Venice Architecture Biennale (2012 Latvian Pavilion, 2018 Palazzo Bembo), the Riga Contemporary Art Museum (2018), the Tbilisi Architecture Biennale (2024), and the São Paulo Architecture Biennale (2025), among others. His contributions have been recognized with numerous awards and grants, including the MAK Schindler Scholarship Los Angeles and the Latvian Architecture Award (2014). He currently lectures at the ./studio3 Institute for Experimental Architecture at the University of Innsbruck.
