GLOW UP marks the first spark in the revitalization of the MAK Center’s Fitzpatrick-Leland House (R.M. Schindler, 1936). Over two evenings, these MAK Center Benefit events celebrate the first phase of a brighter vision for the Fitzpatrick-Leland House as a site for research, cultural exchange, culinary programs, and public engagement. Your support helps make this future possible while sustaining the MAK Center's exhibitions, residency programs, and public programs.

features an intimate seated dinner and preview of the lighting auction and the Fitzpatrick-Leland House kitchen renovation.
September 26 | COCKTAIL RECEPTION & AUCTION
brings together a broader community for a cocktail reception and benefit auction celebrating design, architecture, and the next chapter of the Fitzpatrick-Leland House.
MAK CENTER ARCHITECTURE TOURS
Tours
The MAK Center hosts an annual architecture tour exploring significant and under-recognized modernist landmarks throughout Los Angeles and Southern California. Since 1998, these neighborhood-specific tours place these innovative and important homes in dialogue with one another and offer insights into architectural style, materials, time period, and scale. Residences designed by Gregory Ain, Harwell Hamilton Harris, John Lautner, Richard Neutra, R.M. Schindler, and Raphael Soriano, among many others, have been featured on the tours.

Join us for a seated dinner and curated auction of artful seating by visionary designers, alongside live performance, with Holland Taylor as Honorary Benefit Committee Chair.
All proceeds support the MAK Center’s exhibitions, residency programs, and public events exploring experimental practices across art and architecture.

Virgo Rising
Virgo Rising, MAK Center’s annual benefit, featured an exquisite dinner by a constellation of rising chefs taking place! Virgo Rising celebrated MAK Center’s year-round programming and longstanding commitment to building community through art and architecture. Planned to coincide with R.M. Schindler’s September birthday, the evening featured a cocktail reception, an intimate dinner for 100, surprises, and special guests, all taking place in the gardens of the Schindler House.
2022 BENEFIT
Centennial Benefit Dinner
The MAK Center’s Centennial Benefit Dinner celebrated the one hundred year anniversary of Los Angeles most iconic modernist house. Chef Minh Phan's dinner celebrated the concept of 'good fire,' complimenting Schindler's own concept of architecture connecting earth with hearth. Envisioning fire as both a practice of cultural stewardship and ecological necessity, her multi-course tasting menu tells an epic story about food's connections to the ecologies and eons they embody.
SUMMER PICNICS
99 Days
In celebration of the 99 years since R.M. Schindler built his iconic homes and studio. 99 Days is a celebration of private picnics, fireside dinners, luxurious food and curated cocktails. Dedicated followers are invited to enjoy a romantic date night or a refreshing outing for the family while supporting the MAK Center for Art and Architecture’s annual calendar of exhibitions and programs.
TENNIS TOURNAMENT
MAK Games
Here’s a great combo: tennis and architecture! MAK Games is a tennis tournament that benefits the MAK Center for Art and Architecture, held at John Lautner’s Sheats/Goldstein house. The tournament features players from the worlds of art, architecture, and entertainment competing in front of a picturesque Los Angeles skyline. The event features cocktails, food, live music, and guided tours of Lautner’s landmark design.
