Rainer Prohaska

The artist Rainer Prohaska studied Experimental Media Art at the Angewandte in Vienna and is particularly interested in phenomena and objects of everyday life, which he puts into the art context in a humorous way and in adapted form.

Since 2002 he has been realizing projects that artistically address issues of ecology and sustainability. For these works, the NPO "FUTURAMA LAB" was founded, which advocates an increased thematization of various SDGs of the UN in the field of art.

For the first time in 2007, he built a research vessel for the Danube, with which since then 27 artists have travelled from Austria to the Black Sea. This Artist & Scientist In Residence program is called 'MS-FUSION' and takes place once a year in the Danube region between Linz and Sulina.

A selection of the international exhibitions & projects of the last 24 years: Opening of the 59th Biennale di Venezia, Austrian Cultural Forum Rome, Graz Cultural Year 2020, 798-Art District Beijing, Himalaya Art Museum Shanghai, Hong Kong Museum for Fine Arts, V. Rainer Prohaska is a regular guest at international festivals such as the Luminato Festival in Toronto, the Donaufestival in Krems, the SIAF in Sapporo, the Steirischer Herbst in Graz and the ARS Electronica in Linz.

In Vienna, works have been realized for the Albertina, the Künstlerhaus, the KUNST HAUS WIEN, the Long Night of Museums, the MAK and the Kunsthalle Wien.
