Sabine Müller
Sabine Müller is a founding partner of SMAQ, a studio for architecture, urbanism, and research based in Berlin, which she co-directs with Andreas Quednau.
SMAQ is a collaborative studio that operates in the field of architecture, urbanism and research. SMAQ was founded by the architects Sabine Müller and Andreas Quednau and is based in Berlin and Rotterdam. Both partners hold a Master’s Degree from Columbia University and teach at the Technical Universities of Berlin resp. Karlsruhe. SMAQ has received prizes in several renowned international competitions including Europan 5,6,7,and 8, the Sarajevo Concert Hall Competition, the competition ‘Possible Futures’ and the Environmental Tectonics competition of the Architectural Association in London. The winning competition entry‚ ‘DotsAndLoops’ for the city of Burgos, Spain is currently under construction. Current projects include a masterplan for Dubai, U.A.E. as well as an installation in Rotterdam; most recently they implemented a public bath in Stuttgart’s Palace gardens. SMAQ has contributed to a number of urban research projects in Germany, Latin America and Africa. SMAQ’s work has been featured in numerous international publications including Domus, Area, Architectura Viva and Bauwelt and has been widely exhibited at galleries and biennials including the Netherlands Architecture Institute (NAi), Architecture Biennial in Rotterdam and Miami.
