The Altadena Seed Library and the MAK Center invite you to a hands-on sunflower seed processing workshop at the Schindler House, in conjunction with The Future is Fragile, the MAK Center’s exhibition exploring Agnes Denes’ visionary environmental and conceptual art.
Join Nina Raj, founder of the Altadena Seed Library, in sorting and cleaning locally collected seeds in a meditative workshop.
Inspired by Denes’ proposed public artwork 1000 Sunflowers to Drive By—a project that imagines transforming the Santa Monica Boulevard median into a glowing field of sunflowers—this intimate workshop extends the exhibition’s questions about land stewardship, and collective care into a living, participatory activity.
Tea from native plants will be served. Space is limited and registration is required. The workshop is included in the price of admission at the MAK Center at the Schindler House.
