Eva Seiler
With Steffi Alte
“While at the Mackey Apartments, [Steffi and I] deepened our interest in exploring certain roles—such as the performer and the showmaster—while confronting expectations by purposefully not serving the usual format.”
Eva Seiler (*1979 in Munich) studied scenography and sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp. In her sculptures and spatial settings, she questions anthropocentrism and speculates on how the co-existence of human and non-human animals, nature and technology could be articulated in the future. She embraces hybrid modes of relationship in her practice, using both organic materials and industrially produced fabrics for her objects.
Her recent work has been exhibited at the Neue Galerie Graz, Kunstraum Remise in Bludenz, Kunstraum Lakeside, and Tanzquartier Wien.
In 2025, she received the City of Vienna’s Work Fellowship for Fine Arts and held a residency at Gate27 in Istanbul. She participated in the Arcus Program in Moriya, Japan, in 2024, and in 2022 was awarded the Austrian Federal Government’s State Scholarship for Visual Arts. She has also been in residence at the Cité des Arts in Paris.
Eva Seiler is a member of the Interspecies Art Hub collective and teaches in the Sculpture and Space at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna.
